5 ways to start the new year well

16 Dec 2018

The holly wreaths and glittery baubles have been put away for another year, your apartment has emptied of Christmas guests, and the days, little by little, are getting longer.

It’s time to push the chocolate box aside and get set for another fantastic year. Dare we say it – we love January at Parc du Cap. It’s a time bursting with potential; a moment of freshness to be embraced. Our special location on the French Riviera offers a myriad of opportunities to lift your spirits and enhance your wellbeing. Here are 5 ways to start the new year well.

Set your intentions

There is something very powerful about being close to nature when you’re setting your intentions for the year ahead. Pack your favourite notebook and head to the beach. Why not try Plage de la Garoupe, a beautiful little beach hidden in the coves of Cap d’Antibes. Its silky sands are private for most of the summer, but at this time of year it’s all yours to enjoy. Just make sure you don’t go after a storm, or you might be greeted with more seaweed and driftwood than you were anticipating!

Press reset on your body

Your physical wellbeing starts right here at Parc du Cap. Offset any festive over-indulgence at our fully equipped, state-of-the-art gym. Fit in a few daily laps of our circular pool or sweat it out in the sauna. Alternatively, you could engage a personal trainer to get you on the right track for the year ahead, why not use one of our exclusive coaching rooms?  To reward yourself for your hard work, make a trip down the coast to Théoule-sur-Mer, where you’ll enjoy some of the finest treatments and rituals on the Riviera at the Tiara Miramar Beach & Spa. The expert therapists at the Tiara Spa will tailor make treatments to satisfy all your needs. Here you can concentrate on winding down or even toning up. The therapists deliver all treatments in a magical Arabian style setting overlooking the sea.

Replenish your stocks

The effect that your diet can have on your health, both physical and mental, is astonishing. January is a great time to step back and look at your daily diet. Are you getting all the vitamins you need to see you through the cold weather? If not, you might like to take a trip to Juice Life in Antibes, where you’ll find a whole range of delicious juices to restore your body. For some more solid goodness, try Paper Plane in Nice. This restaurant offers a creative menu of 100% organic, vegan dishes. The relaxed interior with its kooky wallpaper and colourful cushions, make it a lovely place to sit and enjoy a coffee after brunch.

Refresh your space

Christmas decorations are lovely while they last, but there’s something equally wonderful about taking them down. Why not spruce up your home for the year ahead? We think the new year is a great time to bring some beautiful new items into your life, and one of our favourite places to shop for the home is Nice. You’ll find all sorts of trinkets to liven up your living spaces, from luxuriously soft furnishings to charming coffee cups that will put a smile on your face each morning. Be sure to stop in at Cosi Decoration for the prettiest lilac linens and scented candles.  There’s a local branch of Maison du Monde where you can find all you need for your kitchen.

Look forward to the sunshine

It may not be all blue skies at this time of year, but that doesn’t mean we can’t dream of the summertime. You can see the Côte d’Azur drenched in Mediterranean light through Picasso’s eyes until Sunday 13th January at the Musée Picasso’s latest exhibition: Pablo’s Holidays. This stunning collection of works recalls the working summer holidays Picasso spent in Antibes from 1920 to 1946.  It is sure to whet your appetite for sunshine in the months ahead.

January is anything but grey at Parc du Cap – it’s the beginning of a wonderful year ahead. Join us in starting 2019 with hope and positivity!
