Positioned in the heart of Antibes, Parc du Cap is surrounded by the constant beauty of Provence. The region offers spectacular coastal views and landscape scenery, stunning colours and scents from the local flora and fauna, and so much more! This explains why we decided to name our penthouses after the breathtaking, unique viewpoints visible from each one.

So, in this blog, we explore the magnificent Mercantour National Park, located within the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and Alpes-Maritimes departments. In fact, the park is less than a two-hour drive from Antibes and views can be enjoyed from our luxurious Mercantour lateral penthouse.

A park of extraordinary biodiversity

Mercantour National Park comprises eight alpine valleys spread over approximately 2,000 square kilometres. It is one of France’s eleven national parks and is certainly one of the most unique. Importantly, the park is celebrated for over 2,000 species of fabulous flora and fauna that make it home. If you’re lucky you will encounter local wildlife such as the ibex, mouflon, golden eagle, and goat-antelope known as a chamois. All these exceptional features contribute to making Mercantour National Park one of the most biodiverse regions in France.

A haven for the adventurous

As can be imagined, this vast national park is host to the perfect environment for a variety of outdoor adventures. There are lots of activities to appeal to people of all ages and fitness levels. Skiing or snowboarding is a must in the winter. But summer brings the chance to explore the hidden secrets of the valleys, lakes, and canyons whilst hiking and biking. Regardless of what you choose to do, you will certainly go away with magical memories of the Mercantour National Park.

The parks hidden gems

Perched villages and hamlets with cobbled mediaeval streets are a fascinating visit when exploring this expansive park. Pass by Belvédère to see the stunning panoramic views, or the Vésubie Valley, known as the ‘Switzerland of Nice’. Likewise, the village of Saint-Martin-Vésubie makes a good base for exploring the park. Finally, for a spot of history, arrange for a professional mountain guide to take you to the Vallée des Merveilles. Here, 2,300 metres above sea level, you will see tens of thousands of Bronze Age rock carvings.

Entertaining with a pièce de résistance view

The majestic mountains of Mercantour can be seen from the fantastic rooftop of the lateral Mercantour penthouse terrace. In one direction you can enjoy the coastal scenes, sparkling seas, and luxury yachts. And, on the other, take in the views of this mountain scenery from your own infinity pool. So, what better way to host and impress family and friends than with the finest views, food, and wine of the region!

Decor inspired by the local landscape and environment

One of the many luxuries of the Mercantour lateral penthouse is its perfect set-up for both indoor and outdoor, Provençal style living. The penthouse consists of a generous open plan living area with four stunning ensuite bedrooms, complete with private terraces and infinity pool. Entering each room, the specific colours and materials inspired by the region offer an immediate sense of calm that personifies French Riviera lifestyle and living.
