The coastal scenes of the French Riviera offer a sight to behold. Glistening sea views from various vantage points across the Côte d’Azur will take your breath away. And, the sea also offers a wealth of experiences and activities that can be enjoyed all year round. At Parc du Cap, we are lucky that one of the Riviera’s gems is within a short hop from our doorstep.

So, following our previous blog where we discussed the fantastic Mercantour Park vistas from the Mercantour penthouse, we continue the theme here. This time, we discover the Lérins lateral penthouse and the views it encompasses, including the beautiful Lérins Islands (Îles de Lérins).

Island paradise

The Lérins Islands are a group of four small tranquil islands off the coast of the South of France. They are considered the jewels of the bay of Cannes. The four islands vary in size, but each have unique and attractive aspects. The two larger islands Île Sainte-Marguerite and Île Saint-Honorat are well worth a day out and can be accessed via a short 15-minute boat hop from Cannes. Alternatively, you can also take a private boat, or kayak to visit these special islands. The two smaller islands are uninhabited.

Île Sainte-Marguerite

The largest of the islands is Ile Sainte-Marguerite which boasts an interesting historical heritage. It was made famous by the legend of the Man in the Iron Mask. Otherwise known as the prisoner of France, he was held in the island’s magnificent mediaeval fort for many years during the late 17th century. The fort is now open to visitors and is host to a Museum of the Sea.

Our recommendations:

  • Where to eat: La Guérite – this exclusive and elegant restaurant and beach club can only be accessed via the sea. With a premium setting and excellent food, this buzzy restaurant attracts the French Riviera’s elite.
  • What to do: Follow the various walking trails around the island. The well sign-posted paths will lead you to some secluded and tranquil beaches through beautifully scented pines and eucalyptus trees.

Île Saint-Honorat

Water taxis also run on a regular basis to the smaller of the two inhabited islands, Île Saint-Honorat. The island is the epitome of peace. And it is the perfect spot to take some quiet time to stroll along the pretty little beaches and coves. It is also home to an impressive (and still functioning) medieval monastery: Abbaye de Lérins. The monks of the abbey have been living here since the 5th century. They sustain themselves by producing and selling delicious wine, honey and a liqueur called Lerina. Wine tastings are available – and a few bottles are worth bringing back to enjoy on your Parc du Cap penthouse terrace!

Our recommendations:

  • Where to eat:  La Tonnelle – this beach-style restaurant offers superb Mediterranean-inspired cuisine. The chef has created a menu using locally sourced ingredients and perfectly matches the idyllic setting.
  • What to do: Dive beneath the turquoise sea to discover the amazing underwater statues of world-renowned artist Jason deCaires Taylor.

Panoramic Provençal views

The impeccably designed Lérins penthouse boasts glorious scenic island views – enjoyable from the stylish indoor living spaces and from the vast terrace. In addition, from the rooftop terrace you can relish the Riviera scenes whilst resting by the penthouse’s private infinity pool. In particular, the Lérins islands make a prominent viewpoint from the rooftop terrace. So, whilst soaking up the balmy sunshine, why not treat yourself to a chilled glass of Abbaye de Lérins wine!

Island inspired living

On entering the lateral Lérins penthouse, you will be struck by a feeling of calm that reflects intimate and relaxed island life. The colours, materials and immaculate finish of the penthouse celebrate the feel of the local region and environment. The penthouse comprises a spacious and elegantly created interior living area – covering 181m² / 1,949ft². Further, this penthouse includes a luxury master suite and three further generously sized ensuite bedrooms. Therefore, there is ample space to unwind in your own island haven, or entertain guests.
